Wisconsin is a national leader in health care reform. Our landmark prescription drug assistance program, SeniorCare, provides more than 100,000 Wisconsin seniors with access to low-cost, medications they need to remain healthy and active. Our BadgerCare program offers Wisconsin’s working families with access to affordable health care. This year, we will begin BadgerCare Plus to provide affordable health care coverage for uninsured children.
Even with these reforms, families remain anxious about the rising cost of health care. To ease this anxiety, we must take the steps necessary to reduce health care costs. We must put individual patients and families, not politicians and bureaucrats, in charge of their health care dollars and decisions. Also, we must focus on the largest portion of the health care dollar, delivery, rather than dealing with small pieces of the problem. Because of this, I have launched YourCARE. YourCARE is a health care plan that focuses on giving you control of your health care while providing health care coverage to all residents. Just like the health care system, YourCARE is made up of multiple proposals in order to provide families with maximum control of their health care dollars, decisions and information.
